Ford și VW au anunțat nu de mult o colaborare strategică ce pare să vizeze în mod special sectorul vehiculelor comerciale – germanii practic s-au alipit experților în domeniu, iar americanii au grijă să acopere orice posibilă nișă. Spre exemplu, noutatea europeană de astăzi este reprezentată de noua cabină – șasiu Transit Skeletal, model care sosește cu un prag de încărcare mai jos și cu 200 kg în plus la capitolul capacitate de încărcare. Noul Transit Skeletal este dotat cu o platformă cu 100 mm mai joasă decât în cazul versiunii „chassis cab” standard (Transit 2 Ton) cu tracțiune față, fiind în același timp cu 200 de kg mai ușor.

În America, Ford a prezentat însă noua versiune F-150 Limited, un pickup care pare pregătit să uite complet de rădăcinile sale de model comercial, devenind cel mai puternic pickup din America. Compania a atins acest deziderat preluând pur și simplu propulsorul de pe F-150 Raptor la bordul versiunii Limited MY2019, sărind de la 375 CP și 637 Nm de pe versiunea precedentă la 450 CP și 692 Nm acum, noile cifre fiind completate și de un sistem de evacuare sport, dezvoltat special pentru a oferi intensitate vocii motorizării V6 EcoBoost. Fiind cel mai luxos F-150, versiunea Limited nu duce lipsă de nimic – de la noua tapiserie din piele Camel Back la funcții de masaj și ventilație pentru scaunele față sau volan încălzit. Bonus, Ford a prezentat și o imagine teaser cu viitoarea gamă de modele SUV, care până în 2020 va fi nu doar „fresh” ci mai ales dotată cu versiuni hibrid și plug in hibrid.

Și să nu uităm de rivalii de la Chevrolet, care nu au prezentat un model nou de pickup – cel puțin nu unul în întregime. În schimb, ei au decis să prezinte o nouă versiune de benă – Durabed – pentru Silverado 1500, pe care o prezintă drept cea mai mare de pe piața americană, în clasa sa. Fiecare versiune de Silverado MY2019 va primi noua benă Durabed, care nu doar este mai mare decât versiunile precedente pentru orice variantă de caroserie, ci este și cu aproximativ 20% peste ceea ce oferă concurența în acest moment. Este în același timp și mai durabilă – calitatea crescând de la 340 la 500 megapascali, este dotată cu 12 puncte de ancorare fixe, care rezistă la o forță dublă de torsiune de acum, plus încă 9 mobile. În plus, ușa de acces poate fi închisă/deschisă electric, iar bena dotată cu iluminat LED și priză de 110/120 volți.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is one of the most aerodynamic full-size trucks available due to extensive use of aero features such as the front functional air curtains. Similar to those introduced on the sixth-generation Camaro, the Silverado’s aero curtains reduce aerodynamic drag by routing air around the front wheel wells. Changes like these result in a 7 percent increase in aerodynamic efficiency.

The 2019 Silverado RST comes standard with an all-new, advanced 2.7L Turbo engine Active Fuel Management and stop/start technology, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Available 5.3L V-8 engine is paired with an eight-speed transmission and featured industry-first Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) with 17 different modes of cylinder deactivation. An all-new Duramax 3.0L Turbo Diesel with start/stop technology paired with a 10-speed transmission will be available as an option in early 2019

The Durabed truck bed, standard on all 2019 Silverado 1500 models, includes larger cutouts in the GM-exclusive CornerStep bumpers to better accommodate steel-toed boots.

The Durabed is available with integrated in-bed LED lighting.

The short-box’s volume is up to 20 percent more than any competitor’s short-box.

The quality of Durabed’s high-strength steel floor has improved, from 340 megapascals to 500 megapascals.

The Durabed features 12 fixed tie-downs, and the strength of each of these has doubled from 250 lbs. to 500 lbs. of force before bending.
